Our three demands:
Brighton and Hove County Council and St William must act in accordance with an independent third party report that clearly sets out the level of contamination on the site, the viability of detoxification and the steps required to render the site safe for development. Mitigation of contaminants is not enough, we are asking for complete detoxification.
St William, in consultation with Brighton and Hove County Council, local residents and other interested bodies such as The Brighton Society and The Regency Society, to reduce the proposed scale and density of the Gasworks development so that it sits within and complements, the surrounding built and natural environment.
The St William Brighton Gasworks development in consultation with the local council and community, allocates 40 percent of available units as genuinely affordable or social housing.
